The Beauty of Tuscany

I’m back from my amazing 10 days work trip to Italy! I loved chatting with the locals using my Italian I learnt at school, I was amazed at how I could understand the language again and best of all the locals could understand me! I think I ate enough to feed a small country, so much bread, olive oil, pasta and gelato! It was a great break away with some great company, now back to reality of cooking, cleaning, doing Mum duties and of course back to work helping people realise their dream holidays!

We spent a lovely 2 nights in the Chianti area, staying in a property that was once a farmhouse. Beautiful tuscan countryside views here. I thought it was the perfect spot to take some photos of my thank you cards.

What a view from my balcony!

Tuscany is very hilly, lots of cobblestone streets and still being winter when I visited (Italy’s spring starts 21 March so it was still winter while we were there) there was rain! It was the perfect setting for a some Stampin’ Up stamps sets I own!

I used the beautiful Mediterranean Moments teamed up with the Beautiful You stamp set. These 2 stamp sets together make the perfect Tuscan scene! I used the masking technique, stamping the lady with the umbrella first, then using a sticky note to cover over the image of her, finally I stamped over the Mediterranean scene. I couldn’t go past my favourite Stampin’ Blends for the colouring on this card. With the embossed brick background, these products were the perfect choice for my Tuscan Thank you card!

This set reminded me of this amazing photo taken in one of the many little towns we visited. I am, however not as glamorous looking….no dress for me, it was waterproof hiking shoes, thermals and jeans! Let’s just say the weather was a little on the “fresh” side!

The second thank you card I made was also very appropriate. It was all about the wine!

I thought the Half Full stamp set was just perfect. For the colouring on this card I used a combination of blender pens with the inkpads and the Stampin’ Up Blend Markers for some shading.

If you ever find yourself going to Italy, make sure you spend enough time exploring what Tuscany has to offer. As a travel agent, I feel so privileged to be able to experience destinations that I may have never had the chance to. If you are planning a trip, I can thoroughly recommend travelling with Backroads Touring. Having a smaller vehicle with maximum of 18 guests on board made this trip just so enjoyable. On the Tuscan Treats 7 day tour you will get to experience 2 nights in Chianti and have the exclusive opportunity to experience Tuscan Cooking! As a group we made chicken liver on toasted bread (I know it sounds gross but it is so delicious!) and homemade pasta. How many people can say they have made homemade pasta in Tuscany? That in itself is…..well…..fantastico!

A big thank you to Michelle from Backroads Touring, our beautiful host and Robert from Air Tickets helping us with our airline travel and rail tickets. Thanks for the work you put into this amazing trip away, forever grateful for the experience and love the memories and the laughs we all shared. Lets go again!

Until next time…

Ciao Mandy x
