Onstage Swaps Perth 2018

It’s that time of the year again….Onstage 2018. There is such a buzz of excitement around onstage, making a bulk lot of swaps to swap items with fellow demonstrators from all over Australia. I find this a great way to socialise with other demos and I also get a lot of inspiration and ideas for future projects.

So what is Onstage? For myself and my creative friends it is just the best day ever! We started very early this morning (7.30am) to sign in and swap with others until about 8.30am when the rest of the fun begins! I say fun because that is exactly what it is. It is just so much fun! We get to listen about Stampin’ Up, what is in store for us in the future, congratulate others on certain milestone achievements within their businesses, we get to do what we love and create fun cards and projects, prize patrol (free stuff!) and most of all we get our hands on the NEW 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue!

This year I have created some cute little key rings using Shrinky Dink plastic. Now, Shrinky Dink is not a Stampin’ Up product but I have used stamps and some of our colouring Stampin’ Blends to achieve a really cute key ring. I ended up making 40 to swap with others at this years Onstage (I would of had more except Miss 7 kept stealing them to give to her friends!) This tells me that they are a winner of a gift for kids, perfect for inside loot party bags or just for a cute “just because” gift.

I used many stamp sets to give a bit of variety. Plus it stops me from getting bored of making the exact same thing over and over. I stamped the image using Stazon ink. Then used either Stampin’ Up Blends to colour in the images or some permanent coloured sharpie textas. The starburst punch was my preferred way to punch out the design, however occasionally I used individual dies or a circle punch or just fussy cut out the image. Lots of options here when cutting out the images. Another great option would be to use the Sweet and Sassy love heart dies to cut out a love heart shape.

Once the image is cut out, make sure to remember to punch a hole in the top where you will be attaching your key ring. I used the 1/8 inch hole punch for this.

Not sure on what Shrinky Dinks are? They shrink down in size when you put heat to them. I used a heat tool to shrink my cutouts. Alternatively, you could always use the oven for a few minutes until they reduce in size. Kids love this!

I wasn’t finished there, I needed to create a cute way to package these key rings. I used some card stock scraps to make the backing, punched with the tag topper punch along with the envelope punch board to curve the corners. Added some coordinating stamping images and coloured them in. I attached the key rings to some ribbon and tied it off with some twine.

Next up was Team Swaps. I decided on a cute notebook cover for our Team swaps. I purchased some notebooks and decided to recover them using our beautiful Fresh Florals DSP with the coordinating cardstock colour.

Powder Pink, Fresh Fig, Berry Burst, Tranquil Tide and Lemon Lime Twist. Which colour is your favourite?

I just love the delightful daisy stamp set and punch and I have not used it nearly enough so I decided to use it on the fronts of the notebook holders. I did not follow any tutorial or plan for this notebook holder so it was trial and error for me to come up with the design. After some persistence (and a little bit of swearing!) I am happy with the end product. I can see this being a cute gift for someone special. Endless ways to decorate it also!

If the idea of Onstage inspires you, or if you would like to be involved in this fantastic creative team, then I would love to hear from you! We have fun, we create and we inspire each other. If you are looking for a new hobby then perhaps this one is for you.

Well I am going to enjoy the rest of Saturday at Onstage in Perth. I hope whatever you are doing this weekend is fun and makes you happy.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.

  1. I love these. I have Shrinky Dink, but had never used it. That all changed because of you! So, I say, “Thank you for teaching this old dog new tricks!” I was also wondering, can you tell me when you got your metal parts for your key chains? I love them, one and all! You are Tops in my book! Have a Blessed day!
