Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop Caseing the Birthday Girl

It’s Kelly Kent’s Birthday today! Kelly is not only a great inspiration to me but she is the backbone of our Paper Adventures team. Kelly keeps us all up to date with everything happening with Stampin’ Up! and she keeps us all connected and motivated. I always look forward to catching up and creating together. Hopefully in person sooner rather than later!

Today’s theme for the Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop is caseing the Birthday Girl. This month we have Tanya Rees joining us as our Guest Designer. Welcome Tanya, we are so happy to have you here. Can’t wait to see what case design you have to show us.

Recently, Kelly posted this card for the Just add ink design team. A colour combination of Roccoco Rose, Smoky Slate and Basic Grey. You can view Kelly’s blog post here.

I have been a bit behind lately, things have been getting a little on top of me. So I was up crafting late one night and I mistakenly thought that Kelly’s card was using Sahara Sand (oops…trust me it was very very late!) So it was too late to change my card so I have decided that instead of caseing the same colours Kelly used, I am just changing it up a bit.

I don’t mind these colours together, Sahara Sand is my all time favourite neutral colour, I love the softness of these colours together. Paired with Roccoco Rose, Seaside Spray, Mint Macaron and So Saffron. I got a bit carried away and did a few variations. I was up until after 1am and I wasn’t able to sleep so what better to do when you can’t sleep is to craft, except my brain wasn’t working entirely and I messed up the colours to use! But as they say, there are no mistakes in crafting so I am just going to stick with that and pretend I meant to do it that way…haha!

Like Kelly, I am keeping my Fable Friends stamp set even though next month it is time for this set to retire. I have loved crafting with this little bunny and while I was at it, I decided to give the other stamps in the set some inky love too!

I used the cute little duck with So Saffron (I have to say this is my favourite yellow).

The cute little squirrel in Mint Macaron.

And last but not least, I had to do a version in my favourite blue, Seaside Spray!

I think these set of cards just look darling together which suits the sentiment on the cards too! Kelly, what on earth are we going to do without the white baker’s twine! Argh this is retiring and has currently sold out in Australia! Like Kelly, I love crafting with this twine, even though my bows are not as on point as Kelly’s, I like to think my bows are just a little more rugged and rustic haha!

So let me know what you think, epic fail with my stuffed up colour combo or do you think I did ok?

Thanks Kelly for organising our team blog hops, monthly team meeting catch ups, sharing your creativeness and constantly inspiring me. I am so glad I joined your Paper Adventures Team. Have a wonderful birthday, filled with lots of love, cake and craft!

Next up on this blog hop is my favourite stand up stamper, Sheila. Let’s see what lovely cased birthday girl project she has to share with us. Make sure you click on the next button below.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

  1. Not a mistake at all – just a “selective edit”! I love the use of Sahara Sand, it goes so well with all the other feature colours you have chosen. This was a great design to CASE and I love that you’ve expanded into a whole series of critters and colours. I love the brightness of the yellow duck but that Mint Macaron squirrel is my fave. 🙂 Siobhan.

  2. Great choice of colours Mandy that you have made into a beautiful co-ordinating set of cards. I am so sad that this stamp set is retiring but with most of us it will live on forever x

  3. It’s almost like you know how much I’m loving Sahara Sand at the moment. I actually used it so much I ran out, so I think using SS is the perfect way to change up this card to be your own! I love the rotating circle placement across the cards – great way to change up the layout with minimal effort. Cheers to wonderful friendship and late night stamping! Kelly x
