A Milestone Birthday

Today, 16th February, is my Mum’s Birthday. Today she celebrates her 70th Birthday. I wanted to make my Mum a special little something for her birthday. We recently had some family photos done with our kids so I decided to make Mum a little family album, kind of like a brag book I guess.

I combined the Art Gallery Bundle with the Forever Fern Bundle to make this card. My chosen colours were Just Jade, Blushing Bride with Gold. Gold Leafing, Forever Greenery Trim, Brushed Gold Metallic Card Stock.

Little photo album made using the rectangular tins (retired)

I often like to use vellum for leaves to give a softer finish to my card or project. Background stamping is also a favourite of mine, it is a great way to fill an open space without adding any extra bulk. The sentiment on the tin is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set. I thought this sentiment worked perfectly well with the mini album.

When you open the tin, inside it contains an album, concertina style filled with our recent family photos. I love these photos! I added a small ribbon tab so it makes it easy to pull out. I considered attaching the album of photos to the last photo in the tin, but I decided against this and I just know my Mum will want to flash this around every chance she gets! I liked the idea of the photos being able to be removed completely and then folded back and placed inside.

All the photos were sized to fit and printed by me on my canon selphy printer. I then cut them with my mini trimmer and rounded the corners using the detailed trio punch.

Photos were placed on both sides of the concertina fold.

To make this cute photo album, I used the following measurements, which were supplied by another awesomely creative demonstrator, Gail Murray.

Cut 2 pieces of card stock at 3-5/8″ x 9″ and score at 2-1/4″ all the way along your pieces. Overlap your pieces, one of your 2-1/4″ and glue together. Round your corners using the detailed trio punch then all that is needed is to decorate as desired.

I used Just Jade card stock and the Forever Greenery DSP. This DSP matched my photos just nicely.

The photos fold so nicely back into the tin.

Well written framelit dies always seem to get a workout in my craft room. There is always a word that I can easily die cut and add to my card or project. The word “love” worked so nicely here with a small love heart to match.

A matching envelope completes the card and gift.

While I was taking these photos I noticed something had dropped off my card. So I added it back but now there is a spot the difference on my card. Can you see what it is? Scroll back to see if you can spot it!

Happy Birthday Mum!

I have already given this to my Mum and she loved it! Who wouldn’t love gorgeous photos of their family. We must get some more family photos done again soon but with grandparents included too next time!

I hope this has inspired you to make your own mini family photo album. My kids have all requested one each and of course I will have to make one for me too! Looks like I will be busy making more in the craft room!

Much love for now,
