Timeless Tropical Birthday

I love it when I get a custom order request, handmade is so much more personal and appreciated. My customer asked if I could make a card for her Mum’s 70th birthday. My response, “of course I can!” I love custom orders because they quite often challenge me.

The recipient of this card loves the colour blue (coincidence so do I) and loves frangipanis. The Timeless Tropical stamp set was just perfect to use to create this card! I stamped the frangipani flowers in sahara sand and coloured the middle of the flowers with so saffron blends. Some metallic gold pearls were added for the centre of the flowers.

The stitched rectangle dies are such a great way to create layers on cards

I love the contrast of Night of Navy with Pool Party card stock. The Fine Art Floral DSP matched beautifully adding a background layer. I wanted a sparkle element to this card so I added a gold hoop decorated with some gold leaves from the forever gold laser cut specialty paper.

Ink splatters on the card were made using my Misty Moonlight stampin’ write marker, flicking the thick tip inside the lid and letting the ink splatter onto my card. The Well Said stamp set and Well Written Dies were used to cut out the “happy” wording and the “birthday” stamped in versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder. The classic label punch is one of my all time favourite punches. This poor punch gets quite the workout here. Such a handy size for so many sentiments.

The playful alphabet dies come in handy for numbers and letters and I enjoy using the foam adhesive sheets for an easy way to add dimension to such a small area. Simply cut some of the foam adhesive to size, add your die and run it through your die cutting machine. This will ensure you have a perfect cut out of your image with the foam adhesive backing.

The inside of the card was decorated with a strip of the same designer series paper (Fine Art Floral) on the front of the card and another frangipani. I also decided to decorate the envelope backing.

This card makes me think of Bali, sipping on a tropical fruit cocktail while having a massage. I can dream right?? Well if I can’t be doing this, I can be in my craft room at least thinking about it!

If you are wanting a custom made card for that someone special get in touch with me as I am always happy to create something that you would not get in the shops! Handmade is always made with love and when you support handmade you are supporting a small local business too!
