Paper Adventures Team Hop Split Design

Hello and happy Friday! It is that time of the month again when the Paper Adventure Team get together and share something based on a particular theme. This month’s theme is a Split Card Design. This is a fun concept and I can’t wait to see what everyone has made to show us. I would like to welcome Windy Ellard who is our Guest Designer joining us this month. Welcome Windy, we are so happy to have you here.

For my split card design, I decided to use the Pretty Perennials bundle. This bundle has some nice flowers with two step stamping as well as some lovely font sentiments.

What I loved about this style of a Split Card Design is that it is double the fun! Decorate one piece of card, cut in half for two equally lovely card fronts.

I made both cards as Happy Birthday cards because being the start of the year, I have lots of birthdays coming up. I made one card Daffodil Delight and the other Magenta Madness.

Let me explain the process a little. I started off with a piece of white card stock measuring 7 3/4″ x 5 5/8″. I scored a line down the middle at 3 7/8″. I stamped my flowers using Magenta Madness and Daffodil Delight. I then die cut these out with some leaves in Granny Apple Green and Black centres for the flowers.

Next step is to position your flowers and leaves in the centre of the piece of paper over your scored line.

Once you are happy with the layout, it is time to get a strong guillotine to do the cutting.

Cut down the middle of your card stock at 3 7/8″.

Now you have two pretty card fronts ready to mount onto your base card.

I decided on two different coloured card bases Daffodil Delight and Magenta Madness.

Some simple stamping on the inside of the cards.

I used some white heat embossing powder for the word “happy” on some basic black card stock then fussy cut this out. The word “Birthday” was stamped using Magenta Madness and punched out with the classic label punch.

Some rhinestones finished off these cards nicely.

So tell me, what colour is your favourite? Are you team yellow or pink? I always love yellow so I think Daffodil Delight wins me over for this card.

Thanks for joining me today, I hope you have been inspired to create a split design of your own. Make sure that you click on the next button below to see what amazing creation Kelly has got to show us this week.

Enjoy your weekend!

  1. Your cards are beautiful and love the bright color combo. I will have to try your chopping method though I do not have the guillotine cutter anymore. Thank you for letting me join your team blog hop this month. I really like this split design stamping.

  2. I’m not a yellow fan (unless it’s Batman-related), but Daffodil Delight and Magenta Madness just has to be my favorite color combination. I love these cards!
