Paper Adventures Team Hop Sketch

Well hello! I have missed a few Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop’s lately because well, let’s face it, my life at times (all of the time) is crazy busy! But I am back on board this month joining in. This month’s theme is a Sketch designed by one of our team members Narelle and the graphic put together by another team member Siobhan. A very warm welcome to our Guest Designer Gail Ellis this month. Thanks for joining us Gail!

I love working a design from a sketch. It really helps me during times when I just can’t think! I love the simplicity of this too.

The card I have made is for one of our Paper Adventure Team members, Narelle Simm from Eleventh Hour Stamping. Narelle has had surgery on her ankle recently and what better way to let her know I am thinking of her than to send her a card.

I couldn’t go past one of my favourites, Back on your Feet stamp set. This stamp set screams cuteness and it was the perfect choice for Narelle’s get well soon card.

BACK ON YOUR FEET CLING STAMP SET

This design we used in my September card class.

First of all we used crumb cake card stock to emboss the background of this card using the hammered metal 3D embossing folder. This embossing folder reminds me of a turtle’s shell so it was a great choice for this card. The 2 inch strip of DSP is from the Forever Greenery DSP. I am loving this DSP! I have used it heaps so far, it’s a great choice for all types of cards.

I coloured the little turtle in light and dark Granny Apple Green and light Crumb cake blends before cutting out with a circle shaped stitched framelit die. I wanted the little turtle to be a brighter green, the Granny Apple Green is such a nice colour green! I hardly use Garden Green cardstock but it was a great choice for this card.

I loved the design on the opposite side of the DSP too so I decided to make another card by just flipping this over. This time I decided also to have the leaves separate, to look like they are falling leaves. I am curious to see which one is your favourite? I am loving the one on the left so that one is headed right to Narelle’s letterbox!

The leaves stamp is from the Forever Fern Stamp set and are stamped in Garden Green and cut out using the coordinating dies. I also stamped them over the envelope flap and on the inside of the card. A gold twine bow was added because I just can’t get enough it! It’s just so gorgeous!

Such a cute sentiment, perfect for Narelle who will be off her feet for quite some time. Best of luck with a speedy recovery Narelle and I hope you’re back on your feet soon!

Next up is the lovely Sana, I am looking forward to see what she has created using this sketch. Be sure to click on the next button below to see what Sana and the rest of the team have made using this sketch.

That’s all from me, enjoy your weekend.

  1. I can’t think of a more appropriate use for this particular stamp (which is an all time fave of mine). Both of these are fab, the turtle teams so well with the Forever Greenery. I agree with you about the one you picked for Narelle being my favourite, too. But they are both awesome. I love the extra detail of the stamping on the envelope as well. 🙂 Siobhan.

  2. I adore both cards, Mandy! Your cards are always so elegant and beautiful, and these are no exception. The hammered embossing folder is a great choice for the sweet little turtle, I must give that a go too!
